There are 6 elements.
Everything physical is made from differing amounts of all 6 elements.
The elements may be viewed as several different sets of 6 concepts, each set of concepts is known as a “lens”.
The Physical Lens, relates generally to physical objects. The name of an element in the physical lens is often used as the generic name for that element. The physical lens consists of Void, Energy, Air, Water, Metal, and Salt.
The most common lenses are listed in the table below, along with the names given to the elements in those lenses.
Each element has a general nature independent of the lens used.
Void is related to decay, entropy, and nothingness.
Energy is related to emotion, wildness, and the potential for action.
Air is related to life, growth, and uncontrolled expansion.
Water is related to motion, the transport of useful things, and transmission over distance.
Metal is related to physical strength, solidity, and permanence.
Salt is related to logic, order, and rational thought.
Channelling power while focusing on a particular lens will have effects depending on both the element and the lens used.
A person can only generally channel power via one lens, or two closely linked ones (e.g. crafters channel both the Metallic and Prismatic lenses, and Warlocks channel both the Chromatic and Hedronic lenses).
Priests do not use the lenses. Instead, they channel the power of a particular god, who will provide power linked to two specific elements.
Anything with an abundance of a particular element is said to be “aspected” towards that element. It will tend to exhibit characteristics appropriate to one or more lenses of that element.
Anything which completely lacks one or more elements is highly unstable. One consequence of this is that everything contains some void, and will eventually decay.
